解決したい社会問題
生活に癒やしを求めてペットを飼う人が増えており、今日の犬猫の飼育頭数は、日本の15歳以下の人口を上回っているそうです。
日本には、ペットを「売買」する慣習がある一方、保健所や施設には、飼い主の飼育放棄や虐待から救出された「保護犬・保護猫」であふれています。
彼らは、たとえ人に傷つけられても、人と生活をするしか、生きていく道がないのです。
そんな環境に居る犬猫たちに笑顔を取り戻してもらうことはもちろん、そういうペットを生みださないためには私たち人のペットとの共存に対する意識や知識を変えていく必要があると考えています。
More and more people are adopting pets and the number of dogs and cats owned today exceeds the number of people aged 15 and under in Japan.
As you know, there is a practice of buying and selling pets in Japan. At the same time, public health centers and facilities are filled with shelter dogs and cats rescued from neglect or abuse by their owners.
Even if they are harmed by their owners, companion animals have no choice but to live with them. In order to bring smiles back to the dogs and cats in such poor environment and to also prevent the creation of such pets, we believe it is necessary to change our awareness and knowledge of coexistence with pets.
その問題を解決するためのアイデアやアプローチ方法
Happy Choiceは2013年4月より活動をスタートさせました。
「Happy Choice～犬と猫と人のために～」というネーミングは、犬や猫の命を救っているつもりが、実は私達、人の心が救われていると感じたからです。
私たちは、センターにいるワンちゃんの譲渡の為に「お散歩」や「ブラッシング」などのお世話をして触れ合ってもらう活動（「センターおさんぽ会」）や、里親さん探し（譲渡）、保健所や一時預かり中の犬猫の治療、予防接種、避妊去勢（健康管理）、保健所で管理されている犬へのトレーニング（ボランティア）、チャリティライブの開催、イベントでの啓蒙活動などをおこなっています。
Happy Choice started its activities in April 2013. The name "Happy Choice - for dogs, cats, and people" was chosen because we felt that although we thought we were saving the lives of dogs and cats, we were actually saving the hearts of the people.
We are involved in walks, brushing, and other activities for the transfer of dogs at the center so that they can get to know each other (called "Center Osanpo-kai"), finding foster parents (transfer), treatment, vaccinations and spaying (health care) of dogs and cats in public health centers and temporary care, training (volunteer) for dogs managed at public health centers, and organizing charity concerts and educational activities at events.
プロジェクトを進行している上で直面している課題や困難
活動を進めるなかで、「伝えること」がとても大切だと痛感しています。
老父婦にしつけがむずかしい柴犬を渡してしまったところからはじまった、実際に起きた不幸な出来事があります。
少し情報や理解が足りなかったことが不幸を生み、どの段階でも解決が難しく、今でもどうすることが正解なのか解決が見つけられない状態です。
振り返ると、最初の売買においての知識/認識不足が引き起こした不幸なので、そういう不幸を今後起こさないためにも正確な情報をきちんと伝え続ける必要があると思っています。
口で言う、頭で理解するのは簡単でも、実際に不幸は起きてしまいます。
少しでも悲しいことが起きないように、精力的に活動を続けています。
In the course of our activities, we are keenly aware that it is very important to communicate. There was an unfortunate incident that started when I gave an elderly couple a Shiba Inu that was difficult to train.
A lack of information and understanding led to the misfortune, which was difficult to resolve at every stage, and even now we are still unable to find a solution as to what the right thing to do is.
Looking back, the misfortune was caused by a lack of knowledge and awareness in the initial buying and selling of the dog, so I think it is necessary to keep giving accurate information to prevent such misfortunes from happening in the future. It is easy to talk about and understand, but misfortunes do happen. We continue to work vigorously to prevent even the slightest sad incidents from happening.
